DUIs are a large part of my practice. We represent folks all over central Florida who have been accused of driving under the influence and they are somewhat complicated. So it’s important that when you get a DUI, you act quickly. The first thing you need to concern yourself with is, what are you going to do about your driver’s license? If you’ve taken a breath test, and the breath test exceeds the legal limit of .08, you’ve lost your license for six months on a first offense. And you need to act within ten days to do something about your license. If you refuse the breath test, you’ve lost your license for a year. But again, you’ve got ten days to act, so it’s important to consult with a lawyer. All of us, or at least most criminal defense attorneys will offer you a free consultation.
First Steps within the 10 days
We’d offer you an opportunity to come into our office, speak confidentially about your case, review the police report, review all of the information that we have available to us about your case, and give you some affirmative feedback about what you can do to begin working towards getting a license or addressing the criminal charge or both. We do both ends of the case for our clients. And we’d be happy to do both for you. But because of the DMV requirements, we ask that you move quickly. So call us. We’d be happy to speak with you about your case, consult with you, and then it’s up to you as to what you want to do.
