Police Found More Than They Bargained For
FORT PIERCE, FL – 49-year-old clinical director of a Florida drug and alcoholic rehabilitation center, Juli Ann Arnold, resigned after she was arrested for drunk driving for the fourth time. She was stopped by the police after observing her car’s broken tail light on Fort Pierce’s Orange Avenue, three days before the new year.
The deputies who arrested her had no idea that a broken tail light will turn out into something much more.
It is reported that the police found an open container of alcohol, an orange prescription bottle with pills but no label, more alcohol, eight grams of marijuana and assorted pills from her car.
This is for the fourth time Arnold has been caught for drunk driving. Her driving license was revoked in 2004 and she was also convicted of DUI in Martin County the same year. According to St. Lucie County court records, she also had previous DUI convictions in 1994 and 1996.
According to police, Arnold was stopped three days before the new year just down the street from the Counseling Recovery Center, where she was giving services as a clinical director. This center is a place for women to fight addiction. The executive director of the rehabilitation center has confirmed her resign.
“It’s a lifelong struggle that for some is especially difficult this time of year,” says Michael Hofmaier with the Sun coast Mental Health center who knows the power of addiction after treating so many patients. He does not know Arnold personally, but as he works with the Health Center, he knows how difficult it is for patients.
“If you’ve been addicted to alcohol or drugs, gambling that’s going to be part of your life,” he said.
