Why is there a such a push to prosecute prescription drug cases?

There are statistics that are kept by the folks that fund the law enforcement agencies, and it is very beneficial for law enforcement to make trafficking and drugs arrests. It contributes to their funding. The days of them looking the other way and minimizing prescription drug arrests are gone.
