Interviewer: Talking about theft, what’s the most common form of theft you see and maybe from what source or locations are things stolen, mostly? You know, we’re talking about shoplifting in these lower type levels but, within that, what do you see as most common?
Ladan Law: Here in central Florida, we see a lot of theft out of our theme parks. I don’t know what the phenomenon is, but people kind of “lose their minds” when they’re on vacation. Even ordinarily good people, every once in a while, will find his or her self caught up with a shoplifting offense out of one of the theme parks. Also theft from the big-box retail stores, for example, theft from Wal-Mart or Target is fairly prevalent.
Occasionally, we’ll see a bad check charge. Those aren’t as widely prosecuted as it used to be but, generally, those are the initial type theft cases that we see over and over again.
